Supplier Quality Development Engineer
The Supplier Development Engineer (SD Engineer) will support the Global commodity team in the supplier selection process.
The SD Engineer is responsible to develop/train nominated suppliers in case of structural gaps in their quality and manufacturing systems.
What does a Supplier Development Engineer do?
Support the Global commodity managers in the supplier approval process:
Perform on-site “New Supplier Assessments” to check the quality and manufacturing systems of potential suppliers
Negotiate quality agreements as described in the Supplier Quality Manual
Support buyers in the supplier nomination process:
Share information on performed New Supplier Assessments.
Negotiate the quality topics in the Business Agreement
Support Supplier Quality engineering department in case of structural problems:
Perform root cause analysis and resolve structural problems
Drive improvements utilizing Lean methodologies, supplier scorecards and own supplier audit, ensuring supplier compliance, whilst driving systematic problem solving and process improvement plans to deliver value
Provide technical expertise and leadership to sourcing and development of suppliers with respect to technology, performance, quality and cost
Independently determine approach and assigned tasks
Train suppliers if necessary and make sure that the quality standards are at the correct level
The SD Engineer reports to the Global Supplier Development Leader
What we expect from a Supplier Development Engineer
Education – Master Electromechanics
Experience – 5 years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineering. Experience in training people is a plus. Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and program management. Developing and implementing vendor qualification
Knwoledge of – the main standard quality methodologies and tools (8D, QRQC, 6 Sigma…) preferably in a project environment. Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA). IATF16949 and ISO14001. All AIAG tools. Including Clear knowledge of AIAG PPAP workbook tools (Flow chart, PFMEA, Control plan, SPC, MSA, …). Customer specific quality references like VDA, QSB is a plus. Production processes for defined commodity
Languages - English
Skills – Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Excellent organization and interpersonal skills. Must be self-motivated, self-directed and able to multi-task. Strong analytical and evaluation skills relative to quality standards and customer requirements. Understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings
Travel – Willing to travel 50%
